The Most Beautiful Song I Know: If We Were Vampires

If you only know me through these articles you may not know that I LOVE music. It's been such a gift to have concerts again.

This past Thursday I was grateful to have seen Jason Isbell. John Mayer and I agree, Jason Isbell is the best lyric writer of our generation.

I'm happy to enjoy music simply for the energy it inspires, the movement it promotes, and the connection it brings to people.

It can also, occasionally and when done well, inspire. Inspire hope, inspire gratitude, and inspire the desire to truly make the most of our lives.

Isbell writes in a beautiful love song titled, If We Were Vampires:

It's knowing that this can't go on forever
Likely one of us will have to spend some days alone
Maybe we'll get forty years together
But one day I'll be gone
Or one day you'll be gone

After reminding us of the above Jason then sings,

Maybe time running out is a gift
I'll work hard 'til the end of my shift
And give you every second I can find
And hope it isn't me who's left behind

At some point we'll all be left behind, so let's all give every second we can find to those we love while we have the opportunity to love them.
