What a Dream

The opportunity to ever be a human is quite small, it turns out.

"One scientist calculated the numbers and found that a person’s odds of being alive are 1 in 10 to the 2,685,000 power. The scientist explains that these odds are the same as having a group of 2 million people each roll a trillion-sided die and every roll landing on the same number. Like 550,343,279,007."

And I thought a Yahtzee was rare.

On this day for gratitude, in addition to all you may give thanks for, give some thanks for this opportunity to live. Sure, life is not always great, in fact, it can sometimes be quite the opposite. Yet, we get the opportunity to navigate obstacles and hard times so that we can experience beauty in both the extraordinary and the mundane.

As one of my favorite musicians said:

What a dream to have ever felt the air so warm
What a dream to have even ever been born

A dream indeed.
